He did not look back. She did not leave.

The story

Mediterranean SeaOranOran and Marseille

Amine Bensoltane boards a cargo ship in the port of Oran with one bag and no plan. He is twenty-two years old and he has sold everything he owns, including the guitar he loved more than most people. On the jetty, his mother Houria stands in her funeral coat and watches him go. She does not wave. This is the story of both of them - the son who crosses the Mediterranean and the mother who stays - told in alternating chapters across one year that changes everything.

A novel about migration, family, and the specific gravity of the bond between a mother and a son who has chosen to leave. Set in Oran and Marseille, it is a story about what you carry when you go and what remains when someone you love does not come back.
